The Rise of Japanese-Themed Homes in India
How wabi-sabi minimalism is reshaping India's luxury residential vocabulary.
For years, Indian luxury housing spoke a Mediterranean dialect — arches, ochre, terracotta. That vocabulary is being quietly displaced by a Japanese one: restrained palettes, honest materials, shoji light, and gardens designed for stillness rather than spectacle.
The appeal is generational. Younger buyers, well-travelled and screen-fatigued, read minimalism as luxury. A room with less in it, but better, has become the new status object.
